Evolve 4B: Stress Resilience Research Study
Are you a working professional experiencing high stress or burnout?
The Institute for Advanced Consciousness Studies is conducting a research study evaluating an investigational virtual reality-based stress resilience program. We are seeking employed adults (ages 22-65) who are currently experiencing elevated stress levels.
About the Study
This study investigates whether a VR-based biofeedback program can help reduce stress and improve well-being. Participants will complete multiple on-site sessions at our Santa Monica research facility, during which they will use the Evolve VR headset to engage in guided breathing and relaxation exercises while we monitor physiological responses.
There are two study tracks:
Track A (1 Week)
- 5 sessions within 10 days (sessions take place during weekdays, Mon-Fri)
- Approximately 5-6 hours total
- Compensation: $172.50 + validated parking
Track B (3 Weeks + Follow-up)
- 9 sessions over 3 weeks
- 2 brief online follow-up surveys (1 week and 1 month later)
- Approximately 13-14 hours total
- Compensation: $465 + validated parking
You will be assigned to a track based on eligibility and scheduling availability.
What to Expect
- Complete questionnaires about stress, mood, and well-being
- Wear a comfortable VR headset that monitors heart rate and brain activity
- Participate in guided breathing and biofeedback exercises
- Complete brief cognitive tasks on a computer
- All sessions take place at our research facility in Santa Monica. Parking is validated for each visit.
Who Can Participate?
You may be eligible if you:
- Are 22-65 years old
- Are currently employed
- Experience high levels of work-related stress
- Have normal or corrected vision and hearing
- Can commit to the session schedule
- You may NOT be eligible if you have a history of epilepsy, seizures, or certain medical/psychiatric conditions. The screening questionnaire will determine your eligibility.
