Ayaka Matsui

Research Consultant

Ayaka Matsui is a visionary pianist and composer with sound-to-color Synesthesia, whose music bridges the soul and the emotional. Born in Tokyo and classically trained from the age of two, Ayaka has spent her life weaving through a spectrum of genres — from jazz and funk to cinematic world music — developing a sound that is both technically masterful and deeply intuitive. Gifted with synesthesia, Ayaka experiences music as color, emotion, and movement, allowing her to translate energy and presence into evocative, soul-stirring soundscapes in real time. Ayaka has created multimedia experiences across the world that explore nature, memory, neuroscience and the unseen realms through sound and visual storytelling. Her piano becomes a portal — inviting audiences into a multi-sensory state of reflection, healing, awe and flow.
