Valeria Becattini holds a B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Florence and a M.A. in Cognitive Science at the Berlin School of Mind and Brain, Humboldt University. She is interested in embodied cognitive science, contemplative research, and predictive processing. She conducts empirical and theoretical research on meditation and sense of self, in collaboration with University of Lisbon, McGill University, and the University of Toronto, appearing in programs like the “ActInf GuestStream” and the “Contemplative Science Podcast” of Monash University. She is also organizing mindfulness workshops, and currently the program chair of the annual conferences of the International Society for the Philosophy of the Sciences of the Mind.

What drew you to consciousness
My meditation practice inspired me to explore the deeper layers of human experience and to push the boundaries of the unknown aiming at answering today's most pressing issues in psychophysical health.
